Special Committee on Agriculture (SCA)
The Special Committee on Agriculture (SCA) was created by a decision of the representatives of the governments of the member states on 12 May 1960.
The SCA prepares the work of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council, notably all files relating to the Common Agriculture Policy. Veterinary and phytosanitary issues, as well as all files relating to the Common Fisheries Policy, are prepared by Coreper I.
The SCA is composed of senior officials who are responsible for agricultural policy either in the member states' permanent representations or in their ministries. The European Commission also participates in all SCA meetings. The Committee usually meets once a week.
