The Council reached a provisional agreement with the European Parliament on a regulation setting a framework for energy efficiency labelling. The new regulation allows customers to be more aware of the energy efficiency and energy consumption of household appliances, which will help them to reduce their energy costs.

The Council adopted a decision establishing an information exchange mechanism for intergovernmental agreements and non-binding instruments between member states and third countries in the field of energy. The aim of the decision is to correct shortcomings in the current information exchange mechanism on energy contracts.
