I am shocked and saddened by the terrorist attack in Bamako, in which a Belgian security officer working for the European Union delegation to Mali has died. My thoughts are with his friends, family and colleagues, as well as with the families of the other victims of this senseless attack.

The European Union will not be intimidated by terrorism, at home or abroad. We will remain steadfast in support of Mali and its people in efforts to restore peace, security and the rule of law there, as High Representative Mogherini has outlined this morning.
