Working Party on Terrorism (TWP)

The Working Party on Terrorism is tasked with examining EU policies and legislative initiatives aimed at preventing and combating terrorism.

Role

The Working Party on Terrorism is responsible for examining proposals, policy initiatives and other measures related to the prevention of terrorism and the protection of citizens. Its work covers legislative files, implementation issues and operational cooperation between member states, including counter-terrorism measures, radicalisation prevention and the exchange of information.

The working party supports the Council's decision-making process by preparing discussions, coordinating member states' positions and contributing to the development and effective implementation of the EU counter-terrorism framework.

The working party reports to the Justice and Home Affairs Council.

Composition and meetings

The Working Party on Terrorism is composed of national experts from EU member states. It meets regularly, depending on the legislative and policy agenda.
