The Eurogroup has adopted its work programme until June 2027, outlining its priorities for the months ahead. The programme focuses on boosting competitiveness and strengthening economic sovereignty, responding to emerging economic challenges, including energy and artificial intelligence, mobilising capital through financial integration, and enhancing the euro's international, digital and strategic role.

    December

    The European Council endorses the creation of the Eurogroup, an informal body that brings together the finance ministers of countries whose currency is the euro.

    Protocol 14 to the Lisbon Treaty enters into force on 1 December 2009, setting out the role of the Eurogroup.
