This working party is a cross-sectional body that retains a general overview of all statistical questions. It receives information on statistics-related issues from other working parties. The working party closely cooperates with the Commission and consults with the Parliament on proposals for new legislation, including statistics files presented by the European Central Bank.
In particular it deals with:
- Ecofin (in particular macroeconomic statistics), internal market, agriculture and fisheries, social policy and health/consumer protection statistics
- European Central Bank statistics and member states macroeconomic statistics
