Validity-additional information:
Due to lack of stock of the old design, some cards of this new design had to be used before the official launch date of 29 July 2021. As the issue date is identical with the application date, some cards with a validity of five years will not be valid until 29 July 2026, but they may have a "Date of expiry" which is a few days earlier. No cards of the new design are in circulation before 29 July 2021.
Norwegian ID cards issued from 29.07.2021 have minor changes from the previous version. The ID cards are adapted to EU Regulation 2019/1157. A two-letter country code inside a red rectangle has been added to the top left-hand corner. In addition, the "CAN" text has been aligned with the 6-digit number below. On the reverse side of the card the date of birth has been made tactile and "ID" is written in braille letters.
