'Introduction to cyber security' reading suggestions

Did you know that October is European Cyber Security month? Across the continent, 365 activities are taking place throughout the month to raise awareness of cyber security threats, promote cyber security among citizens and organisations, and provide resources to empower EU citizens to protect themselves online.

Cyber security is becoming an increasingly crucial topic in both policymaking and the everyday lives of EU citizens. Since combating hybrid and cyber threats is also one of the priorities of Finland’s Presidency, the Council Library has compiled a reading list relating to personal cyber security and the importance of a strong national and international cyber security infrastructure.

• Introduction to cyber security

The motto of European Cyber Security month 2019 is “Cyber security is a shared responsibility!”, which is certainly true. Sophisticated cyber threats can affect every computer, phone and tablet. This reading list should help you to discover the key concepts of cyber security, and provide concrete measures on how to secure computer and mobile devices, recognise security breaches and conceal your digital footprint.
