Council Conclusions on Responsible Global Value Chains

The Council adopted conclusions on responsible global value chains (GVCs). The EU can have a positive impact on sustainable development by promoting responsible management of GVCs, making them sustainable and inclusive, in line with the EU objective to ensure that inclusive economic growth is developed together with social justice and respect for human rights, including core labour standards and sustainable environmental practices. The Council notably underlined the importance of engaging with the private sector on these issues.
