Accreditation certificates are issued for a 3-year period, unless the validity of the person's passport's is shorter.
The accreditation certificate is an official document held by a member of a diplomatic mission (consular post), establishing the holder's identity, certifying his status and the diplomatic (consular) immunities and privileges under 1961 Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations enjoyed by the person concerned in the territory of the Republic of Lithuania in accordance with laws of the Republic of Lithuania, relevant conventions and bilateral agreements with the Republic of Lithuania. Accreditation certificates are issued to members of foreign diplomatic missions, representations of international organisations and foreign consular posts accredited to the Republic of Lithuania.
Accreditation certificates contain a special coloured strip featuring a letter (A, B, C, D or E) denoting the person's accreditation category. The accreditation category does not affect the document's legal status.
