Environmental performance
The General Secretariat of the Council works to protect the environment through its environmental management programme.
Evolution 2010-2020*:
- Normalised primary energy consumption -35 %
- Water consumption -37 %
- Waste per person** -9 %
- Paper consumption -73 %
- Direct greenhouse gas emissions (fuel, gas, refrigerants) -20 %
*In 2020, all figures cover the Europa building in addition to the Justus Lipsius, Lex and crèche buildings.
The pandemic reduced the number of occupants in the buildings, thus having an impact on the final figures.
