Eurogroup, 12/03/2018, 12 March 2018

Main results

Greece

The Eurogroup welcomed the completion of the remaining prior actions by Greece, as required under the third review of its economic adjustment programme.

This paves the way for the release of the fourth tranche of financial assistance available to Greece under the programme from the European Stability Mechanism, once national procedures are complete. The fourth tranche amounts to €6.7billion that will be paid in two instalments.

Ministers were also informed of the first mission of the fourth review of the programme, which took place at the end of February.

Preparations for the March Euro Summit

The Eurogroup discussed ways to deepen the Economic and Monetary Union, in the run-up to the Euro Summit on 23 March.

Ministers looked into the ongoing work towards completing the banking union and the reform of the European Stability Mechanism. They also touched upon fiscal issues. The President of the Eurogroup will report on these discussions to leaders at the Euro Summit.

Preparations for international meetings: inflation and exchange rate developments

The Eurogroup briefly exchanged views on inflation and exchange rate developments in the eurozone over the past few months.

This is a routine Eurogroup discussion ahead of the upcoming International Monetary Fund spring meetings, which will take place in April.
