The mobility of learners and staff is core to the Erasmus+ programme.

      Erasmus+ 2021-2027: adopted

      The Erasmus regulation was adopted by the Council and the Parliament.

      Erasmus+ 2021-2027

      The Council today adopted its position (partial general approach) on the Erasmus+ programme for 2021-2027. The proposed regulation will expand the offer of learning opportunities in Europe and beyond to more people compared to the current period. It will also be extended to include all levels of education and training

      Erasmus+ proposal

      The Commission presented its proposal for the new Erasmus+ programme for 2021-2027.

    • 15 February

      Erasmus+ programme

      Education ministers held a policy debate on the mid-term evaluation of the Erasmus+ programme and future orientations for post-2020. The measures they focused on include:

      • encouraging wider participation, for example by peripheral regions and regions lagging behind socio-economically, as well as a wider range of participants
      • contributing to strengthening Europe's capacity for innovation by attracting talent and creativity

      Education and culture

      During the European Council meeting of last December, European leaders called on member states, the Council and the Commission "to step up mobility and exchanges, including through a substantially strengthened, inclusive and extended Erasmus+ programme".

      Education and culture

      Donald Tusk chaired the first debate under the Leaders' Agenda in Gothenburg, on 17 November, with the objective to enhance EU efforts in the area of education and culture. As a follow-up to this debate, the December European Council adopted conclusions on education and culture, setting out priorities such as increased Erasmus exchanges and language studies.
