Main results

 

There was a clear understanding of the will of the EU Military Committee to contribute to the different military initiatives, and in particular to support EU-NATO cooperation. General Claudio Graziano, Chairman of the EU Military Committee

EU-NATO cooperation 

EU Chiefs of Defence reviewed EU-NATO cooperation, and discussed ways to enhance it going forward. They took stock of the progress in implementation of the common set of proposals and discussed military mobility.

CSDP review 

EU Chiefs of Defence reviewed current EU CSDP military missions and operations, including training missions. They were briefed on the state of play on EU ongoing operations, including EUFOR Althea, EUNAVFOR Somalia Operation Atalanta, and EUNAVFOR MED Operation Sophia.

Single European Sky 

EU Chiefs of Defence reviewed the military dimension of the Single European Sky.

Capabilities and financial instruments 

EU Chiefs of Defence discussed capabilities and financial instruments, and were updated on the latest developments concerning implementation of the permanent structured cooperation (PESCO).

CARD trial run and European Defence Fund 

EU Chiefs of Defence were updated on the outcome of the Coordinated Annual Review on Defence (CARD) trial run, as well as on the state of play of the  European Defence Fund, the EU Defence Industrial Development Programme, and the European Peace Facility.
