Statement by the High Representative on behalf of the European Union on the alignment of certain countries concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in Guatemala

On 9 January 2026, the Council adopted Decision (CFSP) 2026/88¹.

The Council Decision extends the existing restrictive measures until 13 January 2027 and updates the entries for five individuals included in the list of natural and legal persons, entities and bodies subject to restrictive measures, as set out in the Annex to that Decision.

Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Moldova (Republic of), Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia and Ukraine align themselves with this Council Decision.

They will ensure that their national policies conform to this Council Decision.

The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it.
