Post-2015 development agenda

EU development ministers exchanged views on financing for development in the context of the negotiations towards the new post-2015 development agenda.

The Council adopted conclusions setting out the EU position for the conference on financing for development in July and the UN summit on the post-2015 development agenda in September.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, said: "What we agreed today is a solid basis for a EU action and leadership in the upcoming negotiation process." The Council renewed its collective commitment to achieve the 0.7% ODA/GNI target within the time frame of the post-2015 agenda. "It is a clear sign of the EU's commitment to poverty eradication and global sustainable development", the High Representative added.

Migration

The Council discussed the inter-related issues of migration and development, as a follow-up to the special European Council of 23 April. 

The EU's comprehensive approach includes working on the root causes of irregular migration. The EU is committed to enhancing work on the links between migration and development while continuing to address human rights abuses and conflict resolution in countries of origin.
