Support for interoperable digital services: decision adopted by the Council
On 23 November 2015 the Council adopted a decision on a programme to promote the interoperability of digital services across Europe (ISA²). The programme aims to help member states' public administrations interact more efficiently with each other and offer more user-friendly digital services for citizens and businesses. It will provide funding for projects to be carried out by the Commission in cooperation with member states.
The ISA² programme will run from 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2020, with a budget of nearly €131 million. It will follow seamlessly on from the current ISA programme, which expires at the end of 2015.
This final vote by the Council concludes the procedure at first reading. The European Parliament voted at its plenary session on 11 November 2015. The legal act will be signed by both institutions on 25 November and published in the EU Official Journal a few days later. It will enter into force three days after its publication.
