Main results

Council agreed its position (general approach) on the proposed reform of rail passenger rights. The updated rules will improve the rights of passengers with disabilities or reduced mobility, ensure a more uniform application of the rules, improve the provision of information and promote the use of 'through-tickets'.

The Council also agreed on a general approach on a proposal to streamline permit-granting measures in order to facilitate the completion of the trans-European transport network (TEN-T).

Ministers held a policy debate on 'digital transport services for people: the next steps for sustainable European solutions'.

The Council also held a policy debate on the future of the Single European Sky, with the participation of the Director-General of Eurocontrol, Eamonn Brennan.

Both Council positions we agreed on today, as well as the two discussions we had, are aimed at promoting smoother and more sustainable mobility across Europe. Making transport more efficient and future-proof is in everyone's interest, and will help us reach our climate goals.

To conclude the meeting, the incoming Croatian presidency presented its work programme.
