Assessing the impact of the Middle East crisis on the EU economy

The Eurogroup took stock of the impact of the Middle East crisis on the EU economy, including on energy markets. Ministers also discussed policy measures to address the crisis. The discussion took place in the presence of Dr. Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency.

Measures taken during this period should be targeted, fair, and effective, with priority given to the most vulnerable households and businesses. They should also remain temporary, so as not to create new, larger problems in the future.
