Welcome to issue 38 of the Think Tank Review compiled by the EU Council Library. It references papers published in July and August 2016.

The Library and Research Sector attended the policy dialogue “Moving EU enlargement forward: why better communications matters” organised in the framework of the Dutch-Slovak-Maltese Trio Presidency and under the auspices of the EPC’s European Policy and Institutions Programme.

On 14 and 15 September, the Belgium Royal Academy of Sciences hosted the conference “The Future of Europe”. The two lectures, entitled Co-creation and Sustainability, were given by Domenico Rossetti di Valdalbero.

Every six months a different member state holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union. The presidency rotation takes place on 1st January and 1st July each year.

The Library and Research Sector attended the public debate 'Youth, Radicalism and Terrorism' organised by the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS) and the Italianieuropei Foundation, in partnership with the Belgian daily newspaper Le Soir.

The Library and Research Sector attended the 11th International Group of ExLibris Users (Igelu) conference in Trondheim (Norway) from 5 to 8 September.

This year, in line with the emphasis placed on implementation of the Sustainable Development Agenda, the theme of the General Debate during the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly is 'The Sustainable Development Goals: a universal push to transform our world'.

On 16 September 2016, the Slovak Presidency will host an informal gathering of the 27 heads of state and governments in the Bratislava Castle.

The National Library is responsible for the collection, description, preservation and accessibility of Finland’s printed national heritage, and for preserving the unique collections in its care.

During our trip to Helsinki, the library team was given an interesting tour of the Pasila Library.

European Council President Donald Tusk and Jean-Claude Juncker, the President of the European Commission, will represent the EU at this year’s 11th G20 summit, which is to be held on 4 and 5 September in Hangzhou, China. The summit will be the culmination of China’s diplomatic agenda this year.

After the summer break, it’s finally September! Back to school, back to work, back to normal life: a perfect time to read an informative book.
