Chips act 2.0 

Ministers will hold a policy debate on the regulation on a European chips act 2.0, which was presented by the European Commission on 3 June 2026, and aims to strengthen Europe's semiconductor industry, reduce foreign dependencies, and boost local demand for chips.

Review of the merger control guidelines 

The Commission's executive vice-president responsible for competition policy, Teresa Ribera, will inform ministers about the state of play of the review of the merger control guidelines. The review of the merger control guidelines is currently in its final phase. After the presentation, ministers will hold an exchange of views on the issue.

Any other business

Under any other business, ministers will be informed about two issues:

  • Current legislative proposals – information from the presidency

The Irish presidency will inform ministers about the state of play of the following legislative proposals:

- industrial accelerator act

- regulation on the 28th regime for company law (EU Inc.)

- regulation establishing the European competitiveness fund

  • Raw materials projects – information from the Commission

The Commission will inform ministers about the state of play of different raw materials projects.
