Agenda highlights

The next Foreign Affairs Council will take place in Luxembourg and will be chaired by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.

Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine

EU foreign affairs ministers will discuss Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, after an informal exchange of views with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha via videoconference.

Situation in the Middle East

The Council will also discuss the situation in the Middle East in light of the latest developments in Iran, notably the issue of freedom of navigation, ahead of the second EU-GCC summit. Ministers will further exchange views on Gaza and the West Bank, with a view to the upcoming electoral cycle in the region.

Security impact of an enlarged EU

Ministers will finally exchange views on the impacts of enlargement on the EU’s security and defence, as well as the further deepening of cooperation with candidate countries and potential candidates on CFSP and CSDP matters.

In the margins of the meeting

Before the beginning of the Council, EU ministers will be invited to an informal breakfast on countering foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI) and strategic communication campaigns.
