Visit the library stand at the Open Day of the European institutions, Saturday May 4

Open Day

Visit the Council of the European Union if you are in Brussels on Saturday 4 May 10 am to 6 pm.

Just before Europe Day, which we celebrate on 9 May, the European institutions in Brussels are opening their doors to the public, organising special activities and guided tours.

You are welcome to visit our stand, where the Council Library will present its collections together with the Council Archives, Transparency, Production Services and Treaties and Agreements –librarians will be on hand to tell you about our Library. Discover what resources we have and how to arrange a study visit.

For those with an interest in European history, exhibition copies of the Treaty of Amsterdam and the Treaty of Lisbon will be available for you to review. To mark its 15-year anniversary, a copy of the Treaty of Accession 2003 will be on display, along with a copy of the Paris Agreement, which should be of interest to anyone researching climate change. You can even admire the original signed Lomé Convention, which sets out the principles and objectives of the Union (then Community) cooperation with African, Caribbean and Pacific Group States (ACP).

The Open Day is a unique opportunity for you to discover how the European institutions affect our lives. This year the Open Day is based on the theme of choosing your future. The European elections on 23-26 May are your chance to have a say on who makes the big decisions that affect your daily life.

  • The Council library is located in the Justus Lipsius building, at JL 02 GH, Rue de la Loi/Wetstraat 175, 1048 Brussels (Froissart entrance) – opening hours Monday to Friday 10.00 – 16.00.
  • It is open to all staff of the Council of the European Union and the European Council, trainees, permanent representations of member states, staff of other EU institutions and bodies, and researchers and students upon request. Access to some library holdings may be restricted to on-site consultation.

Come one, come all.
